Academy History
CBY Music and Performing Arts was founded by husband and wife team Christian Bell-Young
and Karen Bell-Young. They opened their doors in 2017 from a small basement in Oakville, where they started with just 4 students across voice, piano and guitar. After relocating to the vibrant up and coming community of Waterdown and continuing to build their brand, they quickly established themselves as the leading performing arts practitioners and grew their burgeoning academy at an exponential rate.
Today, CBY enjoys a premium location in the heart of Waterdown, just off Highway 5, and is responsible for the artistic development and education for hundreds of young people from all across the GTHA.
The Evergreen Experience
Students and members of CBY are given an “evergreen experience”, which not only means that you get our undivided attention during class time, but also outside of class time; we are constantly nurturing new relationships within the industry, creating new performance and professional based opportunities for our students, and developing new pedagogical methods to ensure that your education with us is always at the very forefront of performing arts disciplines.
This “evergreen experience” also speaks to the nature of our alumni community, where even after graduating CBY, you are still closely involved. Graduates go on to university and work opportunities that we help to cultivate. Some of our graduates become CBY teachers. When we hear of an opportunity that is perfect for you, regardless of when you graduated, you can rest assured that you’ll be hearing from us. In short, we stay closely connected to our alumni and continue to mentor them through their post-CBY adventures; they may fly the nest, but they always have a place at our academy to return to.
